Being Creative – Writing an eBook

by Maggie on June 1, 2009

There appears to be a lot of buzz around about the best ways of creating an eBook that is not a PLR (Private Label Rights) purchase.

I have created several books and have written every word, however, that is because I had the time and the qualifications pertaining to subject and knew exactly what I wanted to say so for me it was easy, however, I did outsource the Graphics and formatting of the books.

HOWEVER, now as my business is growing exponentially and in so may different niches I would get an eBook created by Outsourcing.

I thought I would jot down a few guideline that I would follow to get an eBook created.

But before I do, let me answer the question: Where would I go to find a person who would write me a book?

I have used both and can say currently I use the same 3 outsourcers on a regular basis for various things in my business that I found in Scriptlance.

Now back to the guidelines.

Make sure you write a good advertisement outlining what you need done. Make sure in your ad you write something like this. “In your reply please add the word “Daisy” (It does not matter what word you use, but doing this makes sure a REAL PERSON has read the project advertisement and it is not just a submission made from a computer program that has scoured all new projects). I always put that I want someone who can write and understand English plus I always make it very clear that what-ever work is done is strictly copyrighted to me.

Also I only use ESCROW for payment, as this will ensure complete protection for you and your outsourcer. Meaning, the outsourcer knows he/she will get paid, because the money is sitting in escrow and for you, you will not release any monies until you know the work is up to a standard that you are happy with. Escrow protects both parties, which I think is only fair and ethical.

You will be swamped with project bids, just delete any that do use the name you requested in the reply, then decide on who you are going to pick.

Select an Accomplished Writer. One of the most basic guidelines for outsourcing an eBook is to select an accomplished writer who has experience relative to your niche subject.

My reasoning for this isAn eBook is a large project in which you invest a great deal of time, money and energy and you want to be sure the end results are of a high quality.

You also need to have a CLEAR and CONCISE outline for what you want in your eBook. If you don’t know what you want, how on earth can you expect your Outsourcer to know!

Of course it is acceptable to make minor changes to the outline during the course of the project but the bulk of the outline should remain the same, in order that a quality product be forthcoming plus to have that Established outline ahead of time will ensure there are no surprises when the final work is submitted.

Finally I thoroughly recommend having the eBook Proof read, Edited and Formatted with any Graphical work done Independently of the person who wrote the book for you.

Follow these guidelines and I am sure you will get a quality product that no one else has, in a good niche that will bring you good sales.

Until Next time,

I cheer You On,

Maggie
