When Is an Article not An Article?

by Maggie on June 3, 2009

Answer: When it can be turned into 8 different things!

Did you know that an Article is a very valuable thing?

It is not just 400 or anything up to 1500 words printed on paper with a 2-3% Keyword Density that you have shelled out good money for.

I mean it can be used for so many things.

Today, I thought I would let you know what I do with my articles.

Firstly, I dig deep and select long string keywords in my niche and have an article written for each keyword – mainly about 500 words, 2 to 3% keyword density.

I then do the following:

Submit to the Article Directories – I don’t just limit to 2 or 3 or the bigger ones, I submit to them all, this provides for more back links to my site and helps page rank when people search that particular keyword.

Make a Squidoo Lens – Takes less than 30 minutes – I LOVE Squidoo, as you can make lenses that really Promote your site, they can become real advertisements if you want.

Does not have to be fancy! Just get the Squid out there! Example -

Make a Hub Page (be careful with HubPages – they do have strict rules, you may have to change a few things) but well worth while.

Make a FREE Weebly Site for each Article

Example: http://crystalhealing.weebly.com

Use them as Blog Posts (after each Submit Post I use a FREE RSS Submitter)

Make each one into a Press Release and submit to all the Press Release sites.

Turn each one into a Podcast – and submit to all the podcast directories

Turn each one into a video using the podcast recording as your background music and a few nice pictures pertaining to niche as slides or do a power point. Nothing fancy – then submit to all the video directories.

Could this be classed as Duplicate Content? No, duplicate content means the same content twice on a site.

Don’t forget when you have made your lenses, hub pages, Weebly, etc to Twitter, dig, stumble and so on – SPREAD the word to EVERYONE!

I would love to learn if you do more with your articles!

Until Next Time,

I cheer you On!

Maggie

Hey Maggie,

Excellent ideas, especially the podcasts and videos – it’s so easy to make PowerPoint screen captures or just audio podcasts by reading/paraphrasing your article, and those things really draw the traffic these days!

Thanks for the reminders!

Great post Maggie!

These are all great options for articles we write.

Stopping after submitting to article directories is one of the biggest mistakes an article marketer can make :)
